Many auction items on K-BID can be shipped, but this should not be assumed. Buyers are responsible for verifying shipping eligibility and reviewing the shipping terms for each auction and each item. If you have specific questions about shipping for a particular auction, contact the affiliate managing that auction before placing a bid.
Please review this FAQ for common shipping questions.
1. How do I know if an item can be shipped?
Before placing a bid, you must confirm that shipping is available.
- Review the Shipping tab at the bottom of the auction page for general shipping details.
- Check each individual lot to see if it is marked as “Shippable”.
- Do not assume an item can be shipped just because others in the auction are.
Important: Many items on K-BID are pickup only. For pickup only auctions, confirm that you can attend the Removal Dates listed in the auction, late removal or holds are typically not available.
2. Can I assume all items in an auction can be shipped?
No.
- Shipping availability is determined per item, not per auction.
- Even within the same auction, some items may be shippable and others may not.
3. What if I’m not sure whether an item can be shipped?
Contact the affiliate before bidding.
- Each auction has a contact number listed:
- In the Directions tab
- At the top of the auction and item pages
- The affiliate managing the auction is the only party who can confirm shipping options.
4. What should I expect to pay for shipping?
Shipping through auctions is typically more expensive than traditional ecommerce.
Shipping costs are not automatically included on your invoice!
- Most affiliates charge:
- A handling fee
- Plus actual shipping costs
- Costs can vary based on:
- Item size and weight
- Packaging requirements
- Carrier rates
Tip: Items are often not pre-boxed, measured, or weighed, which adds time and cost.
5. What happens after I win an item that needs to be shipped?
After the auction closes, consult the Shipping Terms within that auction and follow instructions listed there.
If in doubt, contact the affilaite directly.
- Wait for the affiliate to:
- Prepare the item
- Calculate shipping and handling
- You may receive:
- A separate invoice, or
- An updated total including shipping
- Follow the affiliate’s instructions for payment and shipping confirmation
Do not assume shipping is automatic. Some affiliates require you to request shipping after the auction.
6. Do I need to request shipping after the auction?
Yes, after you win an item on K-BID, you will be prompted to the Manage Invoice Section, found on the invoice section on your dashboard. There you will indicate if you will be picking up locally or if you require shipping.
- Some affiliates also require buyers to:
- Email or call to request shipping
- Confirm address and payment method
- Check the auction’s Shipping tab or contact the affiliate directly.
7. How long does shipping take?
Shipping timelines vary by affiliate.
- Delays are common due to:
- Item handling and packaging
- Volume of orders after auction close
- Contact the affiliate if you need a timeline.
8. What if I don’t arrange shipping?
If shipping is available but not arranged:
- The item may be considered abandoned
- Storage fees or forfeiture may apply depending on the affiliate
9. Can K-BID arrange shipping for me?
No.
- K-BID provides the platform only
- Shipping is handled directly by the independent affiliate managing the auction
10. Can I arrange a 3rd party shipper to pick up for me?
Yes - but you must coordinate with the affiliate to facilitate a smooth pickup. They may need further documentation to assist.
- It's common to require that 3rd party shippers come during the auction removal.
11. What happens if an item is damaged, lost, or missing during shipping?
Shipping is handled by the independent affiliate managing the auction.
- Risk of loss or damage during shipping may pass to the buyer once the item leaves the affiliate’s location, depending on the shipping method used
- K-BID is not responsible for items once they have been shipped
If an issue occurs:
- Contact the affiliate immediately
- If the shipment was insured, a claim may need to be filed with the carrier (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.)
- The affiliate will advise on next steps based on how the item was shipped
Important:
- Not all shipments are insured by default
- Buyers may be responsible for requesting and/or paying for shipping insurance
- Packaging quality can vary due to the nature of auction items
Other common issues to be aware of
- Incorrect address provided
- Buyers are responsible for ensuring their shipping address is accurate - if your profile address is different than the shipping address, please make the affilaite aware!
- Delays in shipping
- Caused by packaging time, volume, or carrier delays
- Items not eligible for shipping after purchase
- If shipping was not confirmed prior to bidding, the item may still require local pickup
- Unpaid shipping invoices
- Items may not be shipped until all shipping and handling fees are paid
- Abandoned items
- Failure to arrange shipping or pickup may result in forfeiture
Quick Summary
- Always verify shipping before bidding
- Check both the Shipping tab and individual lot details
- When in doubt, contact the affiliate
- Expect higher-than-retail shipping costs
