At K-BID, trust, accountability, and security are foundational to how our auction platform operates.
For more than two decades, K-BID has provided technology that supports thousands of independent auction affiliates and connects them with bidders across the region. That trust is built through clear rules, consistent standards, and responsible participation by everyone involved.
Recently, we began consistently enforcing an existing requirement that all bidders maintain a verified account in order to place bids. We want to clarify what this means, why it matters, and what has not changed.
What Is Required to Bid on K-BID
To place bids through the K-BID platform, all bidders must have:
A verified phone number
A valid credit or debit card on file
These requirements apply to all bidder accounts, including long-standing and legacy users.
This is not a new policy. These requirements have been part of our Terms for years. What has changed is that they are now enforced uniformly across all accounts.
Account Security and Card Information
We understand that some bidders are cautious about sharing card information online. It’s important to clarify how this information is handled.
K-BID does not store or have access to full credit or debit card numbers. All card information is processed securely through PayTrace, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway used by thousands of businesses nationwide. Card details are encrypted and tokenized, meaning K-BID never sees or retains the actual card number.
The card on file exists to support account verification and security, not to expose sensitive financial information.
What This Requirement Is and Is Not
This update is not about how you choose to pay at pickup.
Independent affiliates may continue to accept cash, check, or other payment methods where appropriate. The card on file is not used to force a payment method. It exists to support:
Account verification and security
Bidder accountability
Fraud prevention and misuse protection
Reduced no-shows and unpaid invoices
In modern online systems, verified accounts are a baseline requirement. Similar standards exist when renting a vehicle, booking accommodations, or accessing many online services.
Why Consistent Enforcement Matters
When verification requirements are applied inconsistently, it creates risk and confusion:
Affiliates face higher rates of no-shows and unresolved invoices
Legitimate bidders lose confidence in the bidding process
Disputes become harder to resolve fairly
By enforcing the same requirements for every bidder, K-BID reduces gray areas and supports a more reliable auction environment for everyone involved.
Consistency is what makes standards fair.
What Happens If an Account Is Not Verified
If a bidder account does not meet the current verification requirements, bidding privileges are temporarily disabled.
Once the required information is added and verified, bidding access is restored immediately.
This action is not a penalty and is not a reflection of a bidder’s history or past behavior. It simply reflects whether an account meets the current eligibility requirements to place bids on the platform.
Looking Ahead
As technology and buyer expectations evolve, K-BID remains focused on providing a reliable auction platform that supports independent affiliates while protecting bidders through clear standards, accountability, and secure systems.
Clear rules, applied consistently, allow everyone to participate with confidence.
If you have questions about updating your account, our support team is available to help.
Thank you for participating in auctions through K-BID.
